CED in the History of Media Technology |
The "February" player was the first CED player of which multiple engineering samples were made, and its name was derived from the assembly period of February 1973. The capacitance electronic VideoDiscs from this time were limited to 10 minutes of play on one side. The front panel of the February player reflects this, as the time counter stops at 10 minutes, and there is also a slider control that permits positioning the stylus anywhere from 0 to 10 minutes. Also on the front panel are Off/On and Play/Pause switches.
