CED in the History of Media Technology |
RCA introduced the rear projection 648PTK television in 1947 to overcome the small size of CRT's at that time. This set had a "giant" 15 by 20 inch rectangular screen. These early projection sets really never took off due to the dim image. In fact, it's commonly believed that the PGR200 TV from the CED era some 35 years later was RCA's first rear projection television.
