I am finding a lot of CED players in Missouri..... Most of the ones I've seen
are the SJT-090 players. If anyone wants a player email me and let me
know. I have 2 players and have no need of buying any more right now.
Let me know if you want a SJT-090 player. The players that I've seen
are selling for around $50.00 at flea markets and thrift stores....

Subject: 16th Anniversary of CED Introduction

Greetings All:

It was 16 years ago on Sunday, March 22, 1981 that RCA introduced the CED
system at 5000 dealerships nationwide.  Its interesting that this coming Monday is a
major intro date for DVD, when Warner introduces the first large batch of DVD
titles. DVD will be advertised at the Academy Awards on Monday. Does anyone
know if RCA promoted CED during the 1981 Academy Awards (broadcast March 31, 1981)? 
There will be an RCA-brand DVD player which can be seen at this URL:

That website also has "The RCA Story" - a history of the company and brand name
from the late 19th century to present. They breeze through the 1980's without
one mention of CED.
