They are a very basic RCA model player with the tan tops and square faces and minimal features. If anyone is interested in a spare player (or two) let me know. I'd like to sell them 1 for $10, or 2 for $16 each plus shipping. Here is a question for the list. I'm also picking up some spare parts. They are in the RCA boxes, so they have part numbers on them. Does anyone know if these are just for the 90 series players, or if they will replace parts on other models as well? Here are some of the parts he has. 154216 - Stylus 157928 - Circuit 157862 - Cover 157563 - Gear 157550 - Bracket 155884 - Integrated Circuit 154243 - Motor 830022 - REsistors 157538 - Actuator If anyone is interested in those parts, I'll be selling those also. He had quite a few styluses/needles! I hope they are compatible with other model machines. >> I would be interested in 2 and 1 extra stylus for them. I am asuming they are in working order. Please Let me know what my total would be with shipping. I am not interested in getting them fast just ship as inexpensively as possible. Thanks Larry ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Apr 1997 06:48:16 -0400 (EDT) To: ceds@teleport.com From: Frank Gregory Subject: Hitachi remote control I actually found a Hitachi CED player at the flea market sunday that WORKS! Better yet! It's stereo. WhooHoo. But, the remote control is missing. Does anybody happen to have an extra one lying around they want to get rid of? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Apr 1997 11:40:19 -0600 From: David Potochick To: ceds@teleport.com Subject: DVD - Not so great I recently sampled DVD at a local Best Buy... Talk about pixelated..... This thing is more pixelated than DSS on a clear day..... I was not impressed... Actually I think they should rerelease the CED in competition with the DVD..... They would actually have something to compare it to...... When watching a DVD, watch the grey or black in the background of the picture and you'll see the pixels changing.... This probably looks really nice on a big screen TV..... The New Demo disk for the CED could go something like..... "You've seen the pixelated pictures of DVD movies.... But now.... Look at the crisp clear picture of the RCA CED player......" and so on..... My Laserdisc player far surpasses the DVD..... I'll wait until I see DVD players at flea markets before I pay $600 for one...... Later, Dave. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Apr 1997 05:18:47 -0700 From: Tom Howe To: ceds@teleport.com Subject: RCA VideoDisc on ABC News Nightline The April 21st Nightline was about the impending implementation of digital television. During the intro they were doing a history of TV and showed a guy holding up one of the early non-caddy-housed discs while commenting on RCA's half-billion dollar loss on the technology. This could have been the first mention of CED on national TV since 1986. --Tom Howe
