Memories of VideoDisc - The Way We Were |
This is the tape playback area of the Mastering Department. One-inch videotapes were shipped from Hollywood or New York, inspected for proper video and audio levels, then played back at exactly one-half speed to allow the cutters to record the encoded video and audio onto a copper master at half-speed. Half-speed cutting allowed better reproduction of the signals after pressing.
