The RCA Corporation Board of directors has elected James M. Alic, Vice-President, Electronic Services and VideoDisc Planning. He will be responsible for RCA Service Company and for "SelectaVision" VideoDisc Planning.
Mr. Alic joined the RCA Corporate Staff in 1970 and, after holding several posts in corporate planning activity, was named Staff Vice-President for profit analysis in 1972. Later that year, he was appointed Staff Vice-President for financial planning.
In 1973, Mr. Alic was transferred to the RCA Consumer Electronics Division in Indianapolis and was named Division Vice President of Operations for the RCA Consumer Electronics Division. From 1977 to 1979, he was an Executive Vice-President with the National Broadcasting Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the RCA Corporation.
Prior to joining RCA, Mr. Alic was associated with the Ford Motor Company, holding analytical and supervisory positions in the Ford Division and the Product Development Group.
A native of Birmingham, Michigan, Mr. Alic was graduated from Northwestern University in 1964. He earned an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago in 1965.

James M. Alic is currently Vice Chairman of Advanstar whose wholly-owned subsidiary is Advanstar Communications Inc., a leading worldwide business information company. Advanstar Communications publishes 92 business magazines and directories, produces 79 exhibitions and conferences throughout the world, and provides direct marketing, database and reference products and services to select business markets. The company has over 1,300 employees and currently operates from multiple offices in North-America, Latin-America, Europe and Asia. Before joining Advanstar in July 1996, Mr. Alic was Vice President and Corporate Controller at IBM. Prior to his position he was Chairman and CEO of Reed Exhibition companies, which organizes more than 300 events throughout the world. He also was President of Exhibition Companies North America for three years.
