Michael Gale developed image sampling and analysis techniques for high-resolution measurement of the micrometer-sized features of the VideoDisc stylus tip.

Michael Gale joined Laboratories RCA Ltd. in Zurich, Switzerland in 1969 after receiving BA and MS degrees in Physics and Optoelectronics from Cambridge and Essex Universities (England), respectively. He has worked on a number of applied optics projects including surface-relief microimages, high-resolution image sampling and analysis, and development of a single-chip CCD color camera. A number of technical publications, 11 issued patents, and an RCA Laboratories Outstanding Achievement Award have accompanied this work.

Michael T. Gale received the BA in Physics from Cambridge University, England in 1968 and the MSc. in Optoelectronics from Essex University, England in 1969. He subsequently joined the optics research and development group at Laboratories RCA Ltd. in Zurich, Switzerland, where he has worked on a number of holographic and applied optics projects, with particular emphasis on surface-relief microimages, high-resolution image sampling and analysis techniques, focused laser spot evaluation, and the development of a single-chip CCD color camera. A number of technical publications, 12 issued patents, and an RCA Laboratories Outstanding Achievement Award have accompanied this work.

In 2002, Michael Gale worked as a Photonic Engineer at CSEM in Zurich, Switzerland.
