John Rolls received an MBA from the Columbia Business School at Columbia University in 1968. He was Vice President and Treasurer, RCA Corp., from 1982 until 1985. In 1985 he became Senior Vice President, Finance. John Rolls left RCA when the corporation was merged with GE in 1986, and became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, United Technologies Corp.

February 17, 2000, Danbury, CT - FuelCell Energy, Inc. (AMEX: FCL) has named John A. Rolls to the company's board of directors, it was announced today by Jerry Leitman, president and CEO of FuelCell Energy.

Rolls is president and CEO of Thermion Systems International, a developer of specialty heating systems, and brings extensive corporate experience in high-level management, finance and mergers and acquisitions to the FuelCell Energy board.

He is a director and Chairman of the Finance Committee of Bowater Inc. and a Director and Chairman of the Finance Committee of MBIA Corp.

Mr. Rolls became a director in February 2000. Mr. Rolls is President, Chief Executive Officer and a principal investor in Thermion Systems International. He is a director and principal investor in VivaScan Corporation and is a director and Chairman of the Finance Committee of both Bowater Incorporated and MBIA Corporation. In 1992, he became President and Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Bank North America. From 1986 through 1992, Mr. Rolls was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for United Technologies Corp. Previously, Mr. Rolls was Vice President and Treasurer of RCA Corporation since 1982 and became Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1985.

John Rolls was a public speaker with the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild in 1963-64. As such he presented high school assembly programs in the eastern region of the US.
