and video line outputs.  The SGT250 would do fine, I think.

  JVC updates VHD/AHD player
    A new version of its VHD/AHD (high-density video and audio) disc
  system was unveiled by JVC in the U.S. several months ago.  JVC's
  disc player uses a mechanical-contact stylus to play two-sided,
  two-hour video discs; hardware might be marketed next year.  An
  optional adapter can be plugged into JVC's player, enabling it to
  play pulse-code-modulation (PCM) audio discs with extraordinarily
  high fidelity.  (Magnavox's Magnavision optical-disc machine being
  sold in a few cities has a non-contact laser beam for signal readout
  and plays back only TV signals.)
    JVC's latest player differs from the hardware shown in Japan last
  year primarily in the method of loading discs.  Instead of loading
  discs on the turntable like a conventional record player, you now
  slide a heavy plastic sleeve holding a disc into the machine.  The
  disc is automatically loaded on the turntable when the sleeve is
  withdrawn, and removed when the disc jacket is reinserted.
    This prevents smudging of the smooth-surface, grooveless disc,
  which, unlike some mechanical systems, can provide features like
  random access and still frame (available on Magnavision players).
  RCA modified its similar video-disc player for automatic loading
  after home tests showed smudging from handling was a serious
  problem.  RCA's video-only system, however, has been based on discs
  with grooves, making the two systems incompatible.  JVC, RCA, and
  other firms developing mechanical-type video-disc systems have been
  conducting talks, though, trying to establish a compatible standard.
  RCA has been buying software and gearing up for marketing its
  system, perhaps in 1980.

Subject:  In Regard To Previous Anouncements....

The Sears CED player that I previously advertised here is now resting in
a trash heap somewhere. I couldn't get it to work and got really fed up
with it..... It was at a point where it wouldn't play any disks.... So I
TRASHED it!!  Oh.... I also recently just bought a Stereo RCA CED player
for $60. It came with a wireless remote and five movies. I found it at a
resale shop.  It's in mint condition and works Beautifully.....

STEREO CED Note:

I have the movie "Saturday Night Fever" in stereo. At the beginning of this
movie, the left channel goes completely dead for about 30 seconds and
then comes back. Does anyone else have this movie and the same
problem?? The movie music also changes tempo at times.... It plays the
same on both players I have. Is this a mastering problem???

Washing CED's

I agree with Tom Howe on the Distilled water issue for rinsing. I also
agree that this should only be done when a CED works improperly or is
covered in fingerprints or mud.  

Tom Had a CED in his car??? Sheesh Tom..... you must be as much of a
CED junkie as I am.... I thought I was bad..... I pick them up everywhere!!!
However, I am getting more picky about what movies I purchase....

As far as CED's deteriorating from washing, I don't know if this
happens... However, I will let everyone know the death date of the
"Benji" CED that I washed.... if it does deteriorate.

Subject:  More CED Stuff......

I recently went into Blockbuster Music and they were selling all their
Laserdiscs for $9.99 and they said that they're going to quit carrying
them and they were on clearance. Does this mean that the Laserdisc is
on the way out and falling into the same fate as the CED did years
ago??? Has anyone heard anything about the new format DVD??? Will it
follow the same path as the CED???  Thoughts and ideas welcome???

Tom--I noticed that 'Hot Platters' has several CED's for sale (auction)
on the net. Just look for 'Hot Platters' in any search engine. One I
noted was a Joni Mitchell concert which may be relatively rare.
