The owner said that on DVD rentals the life expectancy of DVD disk is about a dozen rentals, because the DVD is easily scratched. Apparently the coating is thinner than that on the Laserdisk and perhaps the higher laser beam frequency is more sensitive to defects. P.S. Where can I get help on repairing a Pioneer PV-1000 Laserdisk player. It was made in 1983 and has a helium-neon laser tube. Thanks. fred.glahe@colorado.edu ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Sat, 02 Aug 1997 23:38:10 -0700 From: Tom Howe To: ceds@teleport.com Subject: CED Rarity Survey Fellow CED Collectors: The CED Magic web site has a rarity survey that I'm requesting all subscribers to complete. As mentioned in the FAQ, I'm working on a rarity rating for each title that will be added to the CED Title Database. My method of analysis (explained at the top of the survey form) fails for the 85 pairs of titles that have identical names. So the survey merely asks you to check off which version(s) of these titles you own. The survey can be found near the top of the home page at this URL: http://www.cedmagic.com Thanks, Tom Howe
